Activity Description:
This activity's need was identified based on the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer standards. To meet the Commission on Cancer (CoC) standards for multidisciplinary cancer case conferences aka tumor boards cancer programs hold multidisciplinary cancer case conference(s) to evaluate patient management
Target Audience:
Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, Radiology, Pathology, Psychology, Nursing, and Surgery.
Learning Objectives:
- Integrate multidisciplinary perspectives from surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, and radiology to develop evidence-based treatment plans for GI and soft tissue tumor patients.
- Apply current guidelines and emerging research to optimize staging, treatment sequencing, and use of neoadjuvant/adjuvant therapies.
- Enhance clinical decision-making and competence in managing complex GI and soft tissue tumor cases, including diagnostics, operative planning, and systemic therapy considerations.
- Improve care coordination and performance by adopting consensus-driven recommendations that reduce treatment delays and variability in practice.
