Afshan Seher Ahmad, MA (Cantab) MBChB MSc DipPH

Dr Seher Ahmad is a consultant family physician and Chair of Primary Care at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi where she also serves as Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. A passionate advocate for medical education, Dr. Seher has been instrumental in curriculum development, mentorship, and aligning educational programs with the ACGME Core Competencies. She has attained an MSc in Medical Leadership and Service Improvement from the University of Manchester as well as Diplomas in Public Health and Medical Education. She is the former President of the Women’s Professional Staff Association (WPSA) and currently serves as the Activity Director for the Women in Medicine Conference at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, where she champions equity, mentorship, and professional development for women in healthcare.
With a keen interest in global health, Dr. Seher completed a Master’s degree in Infectious Pathology during her medical studies at Cambridge University. Her fieldwork experience spans several humanitarian missions, including in Gaza, Japan and Pakistan. She has presented her global health research at venues such as the Royal Society of Medicine and has served as a Board Member for the international NGO, Doctors Worldwide.
Dr. Seher’s previous leadership roles include serving as an advisor to the UK Department of Health in developing policy for drug treatment services and as an NHS Medical Leadership Fellow. She is recognized for her commitment to physician wellness, professional identity formation, and cultivating future leaders in medicine through compassionate, systems-based education. She was the recipient of "Physician of the Year" award at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's annual WPSA award ceremony in 2024 and the Abbas Khan Memorial Award for Services to Medicine.
