Overview:
The Basic Life Support course teaches the essential concepts of CPR for Adults, Children and Infants. Covering the latest resuscitation science to improve patient outcomes, and offering realistic simulations and scenarios, the course provides healthcare professionals or those needing to know how to perform CPR, the foundations of life-saving techniques following a cardiac event.
Audience:
Healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the Chain of Survival and the role of high-quality CPR in improving survival, including early recognition of cardiac arrest and prompt activation of emergency response.
- Recognize cardiac arrest and perform high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, including effective ventilations using barrier devices.
- Demonstrate early and effective use of an AED as part of BLS care to improve outcomes.
- Function effectively within a resuscitation team, including multirescuer CPR coordination and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction in adults, children, and infants.
