Jeny Varkey, CNMT, RSO, HAAD

Jeny George Varkey is a highly accomplished Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, licensed by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), USA, and a lifelong valid Radiation Safety Officer (Level 2) certified by the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), India. With over 17 years of experience in nuclear medicine, he has worked in leading hospitals across India and the UAE, specializing in advanced molecular imaging, radionuclide therapy, radiation protection, and departmental operations. He obtained his nuclear medicine degree from Christian Medical College, Vellore, India where he was honoured as the Best Outgoing Clinical and Academic Student also he hold a bachelor’s degree in physics.
His PET/CT expertise covers a broad range of clinical applications, including whole-body oncology imaging (with and without contrast), brain PET/CT for neurological evaluation, cardiac PET/CT for viability and perfusion, and PET/CT-based radiation therapy planning. He is proficient in both offline and online reconstruction techniques, protocol optimization, and advanced image processing, with hands-on experience across Siemens Biograph 40 & 64 slice, Philips True Flight, and GE Discovery VH PET/CT systems.
In addition to PET/CT, he has extensive skills in SPECT/CT imaging, planar nuclear medicine studies, and radio pharmacy operations Tc-99m generator elution, radiopharmaceutical labelling, and comprehensive quality control procedures. He has part of various radionuclide therapies such as high- and low-dose I-131, Y-90 microsphere treatments, Y-90 synovectomy, and mIBG therapy. As a Radiation Safety Officer, he has been instrumental in implementing safety protocols, training staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing licensing and pre-commissioning activities.
Dedicated to continual professional development, he has participated in numerous national and international nuclear medicine conferences and quality control training programs, staying at the forefront of innovation and best practices.
