Dr. Sara received her specialist clinical and research training at the world-renowned Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. Her career has been shaped by her interest in genetic endocrine disorders (particularly in diabetes and obesity), physiology, insulin resistance and obesity. She was awarded a prestigious Diabetes-UK Clinical Research Training Fellowship culminating in a DPhil (PhD) from Oxford University. Dr. Suliman has authored several papers and has presented her research at major international conferences.
Dr. Suliman leads the genetic service at ICLDEC, focusing mainly on the genetics of diabetes, obesity and endocrine disease; she also leads the Obesity and Bariatric Service at ICLDEC (which is recognised as a Centre of Excellence by the European Association for the Study of Obesity). Together with her team, they provide the whole spectrum of management options for obesity, ranging from lifestyle measures to medication and/or surgery (pre- and post-operative care) as part of the Joint Centre for Bariatric and Metabolic surgery, in collaboration with Healthpoint, a Mubadala Health Partner. She is a subject matter expert to the Department of Health Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre for Obesity and Diabetes and leads the DOH upskilling program on obesity management.
