Jose L. Diaz, MD, MAS
Dr. José L. Díaz-Gómez, MD, MAS, FASE, FCCM, is the inaugural Chair of the Integrated Hospital Care Institute (IHI) at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi since March 2024. The IHI encompasses the Divisions of Anesthesiology, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Disease, and Pulmonary Medicine.
Dr. Diaz is a board-certified physician with extensive experience spanning over two decades, specializing in critical care medicine and cardiac anesthesiology. After completing his critical care fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, he served in leadership roles at The Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, and Baylor College of Medicine. He is an adjunct professor of anesthesiology, and he has published over 90 peer-reviewed manuscripts.
Board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Díaz also possesses expertise in critical care medicine, cardiac anesthesiology, and neurocritical care. Additionally, he holds certifications in advanced TEE and critical care echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography. Having completed a master’s degree in applied science from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, he is pursuing a Healthcare MBA program at Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Díaz has been elected as the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Treasurer, and he will serve as president in 2028.
